A super series, simple, direct and effective. I think this one has the nicest light, somehow. Good sharpness, have you developed in D-76? Lovely sweeping tonality. Tri-X really has something special in tonality, don't know what it is. (It's made for denim!) A quality seen in Stefan Rohner's portraits too.

I think you have established that you can make a "classic" portrait already... There is something about shooting portraits in medium format - difficult to put my finger on what it is exactly, but if the light is good it is able to produce clarity not seen in smaller formats. There is very good edge definition here and I suppose a really good lens will help you with that. The "classic" portrait is something I want to explore as well - the components I look for is really good light and a relaxed subject - not always an easy task :-) The chair is a good way to help your subjects behave naturally - a place to put hands, or to sit in and relax.

Hello Stefan,

thank you for your comment. This pictures with the chair are a privat project from me. I want to make pictures from 10 or 12 different people in front of this canvas with this chair. Only the chair, the canvas and the people. I want to try to make simple portraits from normal real people. I want to try to give me a answer about a question they i have in my mind: can i make a "classic portrait" ? What is my definition from a "classic portrait" ? The chair in this pictures are maybe a last little bridge for the humans in this pictures, maybe a liitle help for holding herself .. i do not know exactly. I make this project now since maybe 4 weeks and it is very interessting for me to read and see what other people think about such photos. I have learned a little bit more with every photo. This is the idea behind "people and a chair".
Thank you for reading and thank you for your interesst and btw: sorry for my english maybe...:)

It is a strong portrait. I notice that you like having a chair in many of your (semi-)formal portraits :-) Thanks for sharing details about this.

very good tones. I love the look. Is that outdoor? Is it a wall or do you have a canvas (Leinwand) haning as background?
