Superb shot Julie!I love the foreground detail on this and the way the focus stays sharp into the distance. The grass growing on the track bed gives interest too and adds to the disused feel. I love the low viewpoint - low viewpoints are very effective in shots like this as they enhance the distance to the horizon and help bring the foreground into greater prominence. Beautifully exposed for the foregroundm too. Simply a wonderful image!

Love the low angle on this Julie & a very interesting shot... tough I tend to agree with RM... there are some distracting features in this photo.. also the white glare from the sky is attracting my eye too much(though that could be my screen)
I have seen shots similair to this before on here & they have deepend the colour & the main focus is on the tracks giving excellent effects... may be worth having a play around in PS with this one... there is so much potential in this photo.

Nice and crisp, good colors, centered subject works. Good capture!
A minor improvement might be to take the shot where the brush is on both sides to eliminate the pasture on the right. I found it just a bit distracting.
Keep it up!

Looks a little overgrown - good shot, though, with the almost symbolic sense of a long journey ahead of us.
(Thanks for the comment about the 'bacon' picture I posted a couple of days ago.)
Best wishes

Mmmh Julie I thought you were supposed to 'ride on trains' not walk the rails yourself - Ahhh I see you are a 'rail inspector' LOL I love this great perspective and lovely colours Margaret
