Unfortunately my father has moved to Ma On Shan now. I used to live 5 minutes away from that reserve and I remember going for the occasional weekend jogs with my dad up that hill. I do remember the beauty of the nature but tI did not have a camera at the time.

I'm retired and enjoy the life the way I can. But at the moment it's too hot and it's the time of the year to spend in the pool. I prefer the the forest in Tai Po. It's a wonderfull place to relax and it reminds me of the rainforest on Borneo. But soon I will move to Sai Kung and start to explore the nature around there and of course the harbour life with the many islands around. It means you have been to the forest many times? Then you know where to go when you come back.

Nice Macro!
What do you do in Hong Kong?
I spent 8 years growing up in Tai Po Kau. Too bad I never got into photography then.

Ben

A stunning shot of a very beautiful insect. I know how difficult it can be to capture these on camera. The colours and level of detail are both something you should be very happy about.

Thanks.

Hi Steen,
thanks for the reply.
Normally I don't use the tripod and i try to take my shots only when the subject is under full sunlight.

Thanks for your comment Fabio. I find you are making great macros. I will follow your uploads because some of my friends consider to by the Sigma lens you are using. Do you use a tripod? I can see your conditions are much better in Italy. Your damselfly are shot with 1/2000. It's impossible here in the forest in Hong Kong. Here it is great if we can make 1/90 with a ISO 400.

Very beautiful macro. I like the contrast between the dark butterfly and the clear background.

Sometimes when the butterfly has been sitting for a while, it's possible to move closer. Before this photo I have made some from a longer distance and then moved slowly until I got the full size in the viewfinder.

Excellent macro of this butterfly. Wonderful detail and I'm surprised how close you got with the image, especially since there was no cropping.
