You are absolutely correct, Martin!
This image was taken almost 10 years ago... My first paid wedding in fact! I went and got a diffuser shortly after I photographed this wedding because I hated the harsh light.
FYI, I uploaded this image to see how many folks were astute and diplomatic enough to make a constructive comment.

You gave me your honest opinion, so I hope you will accept mine?
I am an amateur and I have no right giving a Pro like you advice, but you should study Dean Collins, as he was a lighting god. I have no business giving you my opinion, but your lighting with flash needs defusing. Your light is harsh and unappealing upon the models; although with a few changes it could have a wrap around softness effect? I know I have made enemies by telling the truth on this site, but it?s just my opinion?
