About Just those friendly Tibetans are one of the reasons that many travellers stay longer in Mc Leod Ganj than initially intended.
Actually, Dharamsala consists of two parts, totally different in character. Lower Dharamsala is a typically small Indian town and Upper Dharamsala, called Mc Leod Ganj, situated higher and 4 km to the North is predominant Tibetan and since 1959 the seat of the Tibetan government in exile and the residence of the Dalai Lama. Here are living many refugees from Tibet and still nowadays there are coming more, who in spite of many hardships, risks and dangers tried to escape the suppression in Chinese occupied Tibet.
Who is interested in the actual situation in Tibet and likes to engage for a free Tibet and the survival of its unique cultural heritage can get information here:

Hello Helmut, Thank you for sharing this spectacular image with us all. A great character study and a historic look at someone who is controlled by another government other than what his life was meant to be. I really like the vibrant colors, the crisp detail and the texture of his skin and hair. A little more of a crop on the left side of the image would be nice. B)

Thank you for the lesson, too.
