About Osprey have returned in significant numbers to Maryland since almost disappearing as a result of DDT. Nearly every channel marker where I boat has a nest. Most build huge nests and the chicks are hidden from view until almost grown. This couple for some reason are nesting almost directly on top of the pole. I hope as the year goes by to be able to give you updates showing the development of the chicks. Now is when I wish I had a good telephoto lens (Den ??? do you make loans??)

Hey Del, I hunt all over for shots like this and they come and settle on your boat. What's a man got to do. Fantastic capture.
Yes I do lend out my lens but I've gotta keep it in sight all the time, so name a time and I'll nip over with it for you.
Sorry I'm way behind with comments again. Time is in such short supply lately.

Great capture, Del. I agree with Margaret about the nest building. Looks like a lot of it is ready for a fall. Looking forward to the updates.

WOW -- what a wonderful picture of this nest with the bird atop it! Love the red marker as the base and the blue skies behind. Look forward to more pics as youngsters appear. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh Dear I don't think Mr Osprey finished nest building school, well if Den won't let you borrow his telephoto - how about my macro lens and you could climb up the pole and get a close up LOL Great capture hope to see more of the chicks

This looks like a difficult shot to get. Great colour and contrast. Looks like a little unstable spot for a nest.
