About Osprey, taken in the Atchafalaya Basin. He must have had some smelly food in there because the flies were all around it!

If anyone ever wanted a model for a bronze statue they need look no further than this image Darlene. As for the flies I'd leave them there. That's how nature was when you took such a wonderful image. Many, many congratulations.

Angelo, I do take quite a few images but that's the glory of digital! I usually sit for quite a while though just waiting for the right moment, then when it happens I hit the button! But I do love just watching birds, I've learned a lot about them over the past 5 years and still enjoy it! Thanks for all the comments.....have a wonderfl weekend! Darlene

Even the biggest and most magnifficent animals are pestered by the grossest insects and plagues.

Great natural behaviour capture, Darlene. Your timing is impeccable with this one.

Roughly how many images do you capture from each opportunity to come up with a cracker like this?

I could only wish for a higer JPEG quality setting.

Thanks Eric. The conditions were not good when I took this one and I didn't really notice the flies until I looked at the photo in PS. It was a nice surprise! Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to look back at the original image and see what I can do. Thanks! Darlene

Great picture. My first thought was that the blank sky in the background let it down. On second look, though, I think it actually adds to the image. The limited color palette combined with the great sharpness gives it an almost monochrome, graphic look that a blue sky would actually detract from. The only improvement I can see to suggest would be to lower the lens slightly to capture a little more of the moss hanging from the nest, and leave a little less dead space above the osprey.

Great shot with the wings extended. Love the title, but I'd be tempted to clone out those pesky flies.
