Thank You Mary, you are so sweet. I think I've finally gotten to where I'm learning layers a bit better myself. Once Cheryl helped me with the move tool, things seemed to fall into place for me. I did the collage of my younger son & my dad & used layers & etc, and got the line around the title that way. One step at a time, and baby steps with me it seems. lol Thanks again... Dottie

Oops forget the next thing Ellen said. When finished use control e to put them back together but with the glow or whatever. control e merges the layers. Mary

Dottie, Dottie I learned something new! It will really help with this line inside the picture thing. Instead of the Cut and Paste which makes it so hard to realign the pieces, use Control j. After outlining the part you want--use control j--this makes it into a new layer and you can go right to Layer--Layer Style--Outer Glow or whatever. Haven't used it yet, just tried it out on a picture to see. Soo much easier. Thanks to Ellen Smith--she asked me how I did the circled sun picture. When I explained, she told me how to bypass the Cut and Paste with control j. Take care. Mary

Talk about being late with a reply. I do hope that better late than never applies in this case. Re the straight line around the inside of a picture. I have been trying to figure that out. Other programs do it so PS should be able to. I don't know how yet. What I have been doing is using the marque tool, cut, then paste bac in. Then comes the frustrating part of using the pointer and trying to get it lined back up straight. Sometimes it owrks well, others aargh. Then under layer outer glow and thin or thick whatever you think is best. Someday, I'll figure out the easier way. Hope this is of some help. Mary

MAry. I know. I'm still getting used to PS and all of it's quirks. The whole transform thing still gives me a fit. I don't know the easiest way to get a solid line inside of the photo like this do you? I'm still working on it, any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :) Dottie

Dorothy, good luck with your surgery. I sincerely hope everything goes extremely well. This is a very classy picture. Wonderful. Just one small thing--the pier on the left bottom doesn't seem to match up. Mary

I like the tranquility of the shot with the bird so undisturbed. A very nice shot - lots of interest and of course the colors... :)

Just out of curiosity, what type of computer do you have. I have Windows Xp PC and I notice if I look at my photos on a Mac, they look very very different. Thank you for your comment. Dottie

Will do. Today I'm home with a migraine-blah, a bit better now, but not great, tomorrow is my surgery, then six -eight weeks recovery. I might just go out of my mind-lol. I'll have plenty of time for emails, that's for sure! DD

I like the photo and the scenery behind the posts.... Although the texture of the posts looks wonderful yet I wished you included only 1 post in the image or atleast you captured it little bit from the right side of the posts to compose it with 1 or both posts on the left half of the photo and the rest of the image is formed of the marina in the background. Sorry Dottie but that's my humble openion and doesn't change the fact that it's a good photo and perfectly captured. Good work my friend, bye, Khaled.

Hi Dorothy, I liked the composition most. The colors and contrast seem a bit flat to me. Otherwise, good work. Regards.
