About While walking in downtown Chicago last month, I found this man asleep by the street with his 1/4 full bottle of Wild Irish Rose at his side. It was such a sad image I really struggled wheher to post or not. But I found it had such a realism to it that I couldn't get it off my mind. This is a side of our lives that we see, but try to ignore as we go through our day. His entire world consisted of his little corner and his bottle.

I tucked a dollar in his pocket. It would be enough to get something small to eat, but not enough for another bottle of Wild Irish Rose.

Unfortunatel we are begining to see scenes like the one in your excellent, realistic, sad photo here also, mostly among the new immigrants from what used to be the Soviet Union, but then each new wave of immigrants had these acclimatization struggles, mainly because the family stuctures were disrupted.
Thank you, Mark, for your very kind comment on mt "From the fiels 3."
Best regsards,
Rafi

Great street shot, Mark, and I like your composition, showing the surrounding area. A sad comment, but as others have said, you could put this in any of our cities.
Thanks for your comments, too!
Dave.

This depicts a real aspect of our cities' lives. It is so unfortunate that you could place this image in almost any city. Good of you to give him some food money. You have treated a tough subject with sensitivity.
Mary

Mark, I applaud your generosity and forward thinking about the plight of a fellow human being. It is so sad when peoples lives fall apart to this extent, no matter what the cause. I am glad you posted this shot of life on the street - hopefully your actions may encourage others to be equally benevolent. Well done!

ONe thing he has gotten out of the way before getting down. He shouldn't get run over there. Life like t his is very hard for most to realize. He has made his choices and now he has to live with them.. Great image Mark. Hope he did get something to eat but you never know. Don.
