About
This series was taken at the 15th annual Pow-Wow hosted at the Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures at Aurora (Illinois) University. Over 100 dancers from all over the midwest competed in various age groups and dance styles.
The sky were pretty grey on Sunday afternoon, but the brilliant colors of the dancers' outfits still came out well. Hope you enjoy the shots as much as we enjoyed the live performances. More information about the pow-wow at http://www.aurora.edu/museum/powwow.htm.

Thank you, Margaret. I like the image a lot myself, too. But having been there was even better. The music, the drums, the costumes, the colors, and the dancers ? simply fantastic.
We had been to many pow-wows during our eight years in Arizona. It was interesting to see, while the concept of the pow-wow is very similar, how much the mid-west tribes are different from southwest tribes. Also, Native American culture is so much more present in Arizona than here in the mid-west.
The Aurora Pow-Wow, however, was a great experience and we have already marked our calendars for next year.
