Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the kind comment. We were fortunate here in Ottawa to experience the largest Owl irruption in recent memory during the winter of 2004/2005. We were able to locate this owl, and dozens more like it, by driving around the rural area of Ottawa, Ont. CANADA.

Todd

P.S. They hunt in open fields near the edges of wooded areas.

Great capture. I think owls are beautiful. I can't seem to find them in my area even though I know they are around. Any clues? Do you capture yours while walking or driving?

Hi Mary,

Thanks for doing the edit! It does look great without the branches. I also read your other comments. Thank you so much! I have been in Cape Breton for the past 10 days.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for commenting. This experience was truly once-in-a-lifetime for this area. I check out your gallery and was very impressed. I am a birder as well, and can certainly appreciate what you had to do to get those shots. Well done!

Hi Gene,

Thanks for taking the time to do this. It does look better without the trees and barbed wire. Guess I'm going to have to learn how to do stuff like that. ;^)

Hi Todd, it's me again. Here it is with the branches out. I's not great at this yet, but it will give you an idea. I hope the size works out okay.

He's a beauty, Todd. With that intense stare, I would think nothing moves without his knowing. I agree with Gene that removing the branches would focus the viewer's eye more on the magnificant owl. Boy, many would need to do some editing to get the kind of pictures you capture. Great stuff.

Thanks so much Csaba, for your kind words. These birds are truly special. Silent, cunning, and devastating.

Gene,

I like your suggestions. I sometimes tend to leave too much in the picture. I could try a tighter crop, but I would prefer removing the branches. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that. My editing skills are non-existant. Copuld you post an edited version in another reply? I would love to see it.

Thanks

Todd

A great shot that I would improve by
1-A tighter crop or
2- Remove those branches on the bottom right.
Just my 2 cents.
