Hi Dan, Had to think about this image for a while; the (flash) light from the side is spectacular; it empahsises the slant in the bank, but also illustrates the direction of the course of action very well. This makes it quite powerful.
I do think the division of the frame, with the large dark area in the lower part of the image is a bit too much. Also, I would consider concising the view a bit; the overview of the setting, gradually fading out the structures to near black provides a lot of information that is peripheral to the subject and the tension created by the things to happen, thus reducing the power of the image. I realise this is very much influenced by taste and other subjective criteria. I fiddled around with your photo a bit; hope you don't mind. Dan, I like the idea here, but its way to far away. You need to figure out a different angle to show how big that bank is. Its HUGE, but you can't see the skater and what he's doing at all right now.
