About During the rut, Bull Elk gather thier cows and keep them in a harem. The cows are constantly " trying to leave the area" The bull then has to round them up again. I have studied them and believe the cows work together. While the bull is rounding up these 2, Way on the other side of the harem a couple more will slip away. He runs over to stop them from leaving, then these two get itchy feet again. Well if they get spread out too far, he hasn't a prayer. the bulls with smaller harems don't have that problem. I guess there is a lesson there ;-)
