About	The flowerhead of a Protea eximia a few days before opening. Proteas are some of the most distinctive plant families found in Cape fynbos (macchia). The Cape fynbos is regarded as one of the floral kingdoms of the world. It has an amazingly high diversity of plant species of which many are endangered through agriculture and urban sprawl.
