About your question on the forum concerning wedding photographies
This subject is not as easy as it looks. First I suppose you are equipped with digital so different points :
1 /be sure you have enough batteries. If you are not equipped with a battery tank then you must have at least 5 batteries min for the SLR + 5 sets of batteries for the dedicated flash
2 / Flash Very important matter as even if you have a great sun you may shoot at 12 'o clock which is the worst time for photo (UV filter is requested if so)
3 / Lenses Zoom is the lens (28-105) you will have to adapt very quickly to different framing. You will need a 50 mm for the light it provides and also for the portrait as it becomes a 80 mm on a digital SLR Another 18-35 or 18-55 maybe necessary for the wide angle (inside the temple or church for example, funny moment including)
Try to have a laptop computer with you to transfer the picture you took and save them in two different folders. this will let you also check the quality of the photos) Get 2 or 3 cards of 1 GB each (to avoid issue if your unique card starts to "flash"
That's for the equipment then some tips.
shoot in Raw for the most important moments as you will be able after that to tune it in a better way (exposure, colors...) Shoot in the best jpeg setting for the average moment.
Try to discuss with the "heroes of the day" before the said day about the different key moment to never be surprised Make a real scenario about the : - preparation (one day before, the early morning preparation) - family to know who's who to avoid to forget some "key" people. - the different locations of the day (building, parc, ceremony,. You must go to visit these different location one or two days before to be familiar with the locations and to find the best angles, the best spots to be able to know them the said days. - Be confident and fast when you shoot. - test the bracketting capabilities of your camera to be able to have different exposure.
- group photo : wide angle, f:11 or f16 (+ p program) or make different shoots
- take an appointement with the "heroes" to have two hours with them in a very nice, quiet and empty parc not far from the main location and with a river or a lac in the early morning to get the best light and romantic effect
- be sure you are always ahead to be always in front.
- take picture of every tables during the diner to be sure all the people are there
- ask a friend of your's interested in photo to be with you and to shoot also picture as you will have a different point of views and to secure your business...and reputation
- the day after pay attention to the Photoshop framing and effects (blurring, B&W, framing, save the files, printing a portfolio to let the married choose the picture they want to take, size)
Read specific books and go on websites presenting wedding picutres to be inspired by the bests and then you will become the "Hero of the days"
