About I am surrounded, in my business life, by the wonderful world of manufacturing. Metal being melted, poured, processed, heat treated, and finally, machined to the final configuration that renders the component viable for use in any of a multitude of aerospace and defense applications. There is something about that "world" that gets into your blood. The smoke in the foundry, the smell of cutting fluids in the machine shop.... I just sell it, the guys in the shop do the real magic. This is a simple close up, taken with a #2 close up lens, of a small drilled & tapped hole in an aluminum casting that is used in a power conversion application.

Hi Bradly, Now it really gets scary.... I've taken an almost identical shot of an injection mould.... The joys of the wonderful world of manufacturing indeed....:) Pouring metal.. .I most certainly can relate to that, as can I to your about...:)

Cheers,

Hugo.

Interesting Brad, has a kind of sterile look to it, that's the nurse in me, I guess, hehehe. I love the minimal dof, and the clarity. An unusual vision, a great eye, and an excellent capture...very well done, I like the about too...well done Brad...very nice portfolio...:):)linda

hi, are ya sure this isn't the dark side of the moon,or a view into another dimension?..LOL..i know nothing of manufacturing but like the minimalism and the killer DOF! The circle suggests perfect harmony within the framing,so was a good subject choice ;> ...always a treat to see what you come up with next,Brad..regards,gayle

A perfectly executed shot. You have actually made me want to look closer at a machine. And this is NOT a "simple close up". It took a special eye, both to see the shot and nail the shot. Great job.

I guess we have more in common then I realized. The majority of my life has been spent in manufacturing. I've seen the beauty of steel, aluminum and other metals finely crafted. You've captured this detail extremely well. You've elevated it to art! Nice going!

Hi Bradley,
Superb image, well captured. As a model engineer I can relate to your sentiments 100%. I love to see and admire a rough piece of material, whether it be metal or wood, transformed into a useful article.
Thanks for sharing.
