Re: steven carter.

it just depends on the age. toddlers and kids about 3-5 you just pretty much let them run the show and you shoot away. older kids tend to want to pose but that's ok just let them pick the poses and shoot away. or if you can get them to play around with something then you can catch the journalistic shots. but talk with them. they tend to ease up while you talk.

thanks it will be a while before i try this, it is something i have been thinking about. I will check out those sites and I agrre with you children or anyone in a natural setting I think gets more of their personality instead of posed. Do you just leave them a lone for a bit and let them start playing or chatting thenn take a pic?

Re: Steven Carter.

YES!! I think you have what it takes. your work is truley amazing and stunning. I would recomment that you keep your journalistic style when photographing children. I believe that is the best way to capture a child. Posed shots are cute but leave the pose up to the child let them lead you. and you will be amazed at what you can capture. I say go for it. get you a photography business started. here is a couple great sites a friend sent me of some child portraits. very natural work. check it out when you can.

thanks for the comment. I looked at your web site and was impressed by your portraits. I am thinking of trying to do this in Memphis my real home. what I am asking is this do you think i have the knowledge or ability to take childrens. portraits, or adults? Most of my shots are street photos or macros. I do have a few of my neice on this site called Serious eyes i think. Just wanting an opinion as i want to expand my photography and not just post on sites all the time
