I guess this is not such a novel idea, but it was fun to do anyhow. I put the camera on the tripod and pointed the 210mm at the moon. Had "Nikon Capture" running on the laptop and exposed a picture every minute until the moon disappeared from the view finder. Took a very long exposure at the end to get the background right.
Used "The GIMP" to assemble the various images into a single picture. This one shows only half of the moons I photographed.
Great idea Jurgen. I prefer this one to the other. Yes, it would have been cool to get the blue sky but that's what's great about it, you can try it again after getting the feedback here. FYI I've never seen this before. Good stuff!
Thank you, Larry. Was a lot of fun. Next time I?ll shoot the background twice, at the beginning of the session and at the end. It would have been a nice blue sky if I had thought about doing it at the beginning.
