Hey Paul,
I know how to use the saturation and color, or lack of, but I haven?t ever used the ?L? tool. I will try it out my friend. I also don?t know what the feathering is, but I?ll probably figure it out?
Thanks Paul,
My Best,
Jr. Martin

Not much of a 'secret' there, Junior:
- Load image in Photoshop - use the Lasso tool 'L' to snag the areas you wish to desaturate - Set a feather value of about 5 px so it won't be an abrupt change in the image - once it's highlighted, go to Layer | New Adjustment Layer | Hue / Saturation and turn Saturation to zero.
;)
Try it out!

I like the way you used color and B / W to make the photo / message more connected. I don't want to speculate at this time - could be all kinds of stuff. good job, Mark
