I LOVE it! It is great how you have placed the focus on the memory this way. The present is blurry and the past is clear...brilliant! I also like the little scallops around the border of the image that is a memory -- it is very vintage. A fav. :) Antonia

Maravilla. Besos. Ez

I like the transition between present (in colors) and the past (in black).. beween life (movement in the see when he was younger) and stillness (the man looking at his past). Moreover, the stillness add a nostalgic feeling to your picture.
The blurry image would be probably powerfull in N&W but in this case it would be difficult to make reference to the past with the inset in B&W..
Anyway I like very much your new serie. This a good idea which will be probably followed..
Well seen, and perfectly done Maria
Congrats
Fabrice

It's also a new idea Maria... creative work putting the man and his surroundings blurred... puts us in the mood.
I like it my friend and waiting to see more of this series.
PS, why don't you put it in the "personal style" category?
Regards,

Rajnish Duara   {K:1142} 7/18/2005
The idea is no doubt great!
But the B&W pasted image looks artificial and seems not to fit in too my expectation. I had a different idea when I saw the thumbnail image, there it looked OK. U could have made that pasted image blurred and without the frill cut. I don't like the present image in blurred form. Can you try again? I hope you don't mind my frank opinion.

Dr. Rafael Springmann Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:89517} 7/18/2005
I think you made the bigger out of focus to give it a dreamlike atmosphere, as if getting into the man's memory, looking back on the B&W photo, representing the contents of the memory. Very interesting at least.
Thank you, dear Maria for your kind comments on my "Multicolored glass" and my "Supercarts."
Best regards,
Rafi

This is a wonderfully creative and marvelous idea. I love it. I do agree with those suggesting merging the two a bit more without the frame on the older shot. To me, that would resemble more what the man would be seeing in his mind. Terrific work.

Hi Maria,

I really like the idea to include these kinds of memory as a speech bubble into the image. I'm not quite sure if the current part (the present) should be blurred out though. Perhaps it would fit better, if the memories are blurred out.

just an idea though ;-)
good work anyway.

best wishes,
Thilo

Great idea well executed. the slightly blurry lookd adds to the 'man dreaming of when' maybe if the bw part was a little higher or turned a little so it was more in line with him

A wonderful concept, Maria. The man's pose and composition are excellent. Since you asked--It might be more effective if the man and the rest of the color image were sharper than than the remembered moment. The b&w image might be slightly blurry and with a soft edge rather than the sharp scallops. That said, it is a lovely, affectionate and evocative image that invites the closest attention. Well done . . .

I would say Maria that this picture touched me greatly, it would touches every human soul that sees it, as old you are as much as it touches you. Now don't get me wrong i am not that old lol, I am 28, Married from 6 years now :) and when i look at the wedding pictures or the pictured we had in the honeymoon, it looks like ages, and i wonder how we got older so fast like this, maybe this is the reason i appreciate the beauty in your picture,
the idea is really creative and it is creatively done,
very well done, cheers,

Andre Denis Andre Denis   {K:66407} 7/15/2005
Hi Maria,
I think it is a good idea and works well. The fact that you didn't try to blend the two and simply superimposed the old photo does really work. Many of our old photos are exactly what is burned into our memory. Also the blur in the rest of the photo is appropriate.
Great job.
Andre

I like the concept a lot.. and it works well.. but I think it would better to have him looking at the images full size in the water.. he is color... the rest in b&w... maybe the beach is in color and the water and the rest of the image is the old photo...

  0

Tiger Lily     {K:10966} 7/15/2005
Hi Maria, My honest opinion is that this is a wonderful collage. Fun border on the old photo. Looks like you added some "folds" to the old picture which are very good. I like the past in focus and present with a blur, as if we are reminiscing about the old days along with him. Well done my friend. :-)

Linda Imagefree Linda Imagefree   {K:72276} 7/15/2005
Great idea Maria, and very well thought out..I think it's kind of sad and reflective. The fact that he has his hands behind his back, gives me a feeling of his sense of helplessness, and his stance is balanced and well grounded almost makes it feel like there has been a loss of some sort...I get the feeling he's been there for awhile and that he's sorting through the memories...very nice image...well done...:):)Linda
