Very good capture. I really like how you managed to get it in such a good surrounding. Well done Jacquie and thankyou for your comment.

beautiful picture, and great combination, the green backgroung followed by a layer of flowers and the green main subject.
She surely takes better care of her off-spring then she does with her husbund (grin:)

I'll look forward to it!! Although if I were taking it, I'd be using a telephoto not a macro 8-)

Jacquie,
This is an amazing photograph and it tells a whole story. But I;m glad I don't get these guys in my garden in Scotland! Anything with more than four legs and bigger than 4mm I have a problem with 8-)

Thanks Colin, you're right, they are fascinating,i've been watching this one for a while now,she sticks around no matter what the weather,it's been bitterly cold here lately, rain, the odd frost, nothing deters her.I hope she survives the winter, the egg case definitely will,a few months to go yet tho! Regards,Jacquie :)

Cheers Mike,i liked this for the subject & composition more than anything, wasn't that happy with the quality sharpness wise, tried unsharp mask but it ended up worse, this is the original aside from a slight crop.

A stunning macro of this fascinating insect. This is going straight into my favourites, Jaquie. The detail, excellent focus and great depth of field are a credit to you.
I hope your mantis mother, and her eggs, have a happy springtime. Better than 7.
Regards
Colin
