What a wonderful dragonfly, macro, Dave.
The detail, colour and sheer skill of this photo, is really remarkable. The patience you must have needed for this!
A superb wildlife macro, which I'm putting into my favourites.
Thanks for your kind comments, and I'm pleased to hear I'm not the only to start off with a lowly zenit SLR. I've uploaded a photoart image tonight, taken with the old zenit, (which has now gone to the great camera shop in the sky)

With the small area of focus available in macro shots, it's always a challenge to get the focus on the most important elements, but you have nailed it here. To me, I would like to see the distracting white areas in the background toned down a little. The composition is just about perfect!

Nice image! I like the lines and the angles. It's amazing how his body color matches the branch he's sitting on. The blue stands out nicely against the green background too.

first:it is an amazingly unique dragonfly
second: the lighting is beautiful, only if were able to have a shallower DOF like what you did in the flower image, it would be clearer and more appealing to me, over all it is excellent

Thanks for the comment, Ron! The lens at it's most extended is 57mm, but it's equivalent to 370mm in 35mm terms. It was in the macro mode, and I was a couple of feet away, which with the inherent DOF in these cameras is why the bokeh isn't that great.
