About
Vivekananda's Rock: Kanyakumari is famous for Vivekananda's rock, a huge stone rising out of the sea, on which Swami Vivekananda is said to have meditated. It now houses the statue of Vivekananda and is a memorial to him. At the southern most tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet, lies Kanyakumari (also spelt as Kanniyakumari), an important pilgrim and a world Heritage center. Kanyakumari is also famous for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets, especially on full moon days. In the recent Tsunami this rock saved many lives by bearing the brunt of the impact. About 1500 tourists were stranded on this rock and resucued later.
Thank you for your comments. It was taken around noon. Yes the crowd was less at that time. After Tsunami the crowd has come down. I am glad you visited this place. Did you like the place?
Beautiful shot! But remarkably few people (there were easily 1000 people on the Rock when I was there in October). What time of day was this taken? I'm guessing in the morning by the colour of the sky.
