Hey great summit shot. I have been up there via the regular north face route as well. But that was at least twenty years ago. Just a fantastic view...like nothing else in the world.

Dear Tim. I spent a few minutes today looking over your portfolio and website -- I should have known that there was an artist behind the viewfinder. I just didn't expect him to be a paddler as well :>). Each of your posted images has interesting lighting, excellent balance. For a different view of Mt Athabasca, see http://www.usefilm.com/image/8195.html

yeah Jim, I had to hike for a bit..but I have been working up to this level of exercise over the last month or so....I want to be in way better shape..lost 2 belt holes since I started on this trip...and want to keep it up. The old body is complaining as usual and the knees are REALLY shot....but hey if I don't do it now I never will. Life is short and I want to make the best of it. I know you of all people know what I mean. I have never been happier throwing all my junk in storage and living in my van now for 5 weeeks.....not sure I want to be in a house with all the things that come with it.....not everybody's cup of tea ..but I like it so far now that the kids are gone.

I thought I recognized this mountain, but it was only when I saw the title that I remembered which one. It's nice to see an image different than the one usually taken from the road. I like the strong foreground, good balance, interesting composition. With the wider angle you lose a little of the magesty of this mountain, but there are plenty of other images that show that in a less creative manner.

Gorgeous, Tim. The natural sense of depth with the slight veiling of the distant peaks is just perfect, contrasting with the oh-so-sharp foreground. Composition could hardly be bettered. Quite the best of this series so far.

Hi Tm, Spectacular mountain view. The various layers of (with some imagination) repetitive shapes builds upt the composition beautifully. On one side, the slightly hazy background creates a good feel of altitude and distance, but on the other hand, I think a selective mask in the background, enhancing the contrasts and tones in the mountains a bit (maybe even upping the saturation in the sky) could increase the impact of the scene even more. The only doubt with this would be the reduction of the feel of distance, as increasing the contrast in the background also inevitably flattens the photo. Either way, a mesmerising landscape, and very well captured as usual.

Cheers,

Hugo
