This is marvelous. The reflections, the motion of the water, the lone bird--what a beautiful composition. MAry

I suspect this may be one of your favourite captures, Marilyn. All my personal likes come together in this superb image - sunset, reflections, bird and silhouette.
It's simple, effective and conveys calmness.
A 7.

Hi Marilyn
Love the colours in this one - and I like your original crop better as I don't think including the horizon adds anything to the image. This way you can concentrate on just the bird and the sunset colours and it gives a great sense of the struggle to survive, up early, all alone just to get enough to eat.
Thanks for commenting on my photos too by the way.

Angelo, Yes, I like yours too. Here's the original. I wasn't thinking thirds at all when I took it...lol Thanks for your help. Marilyn

That's very close to what I had in mind. What do you think of it? Do you like it that way?
I took the liberty of cropping it back to a 3:2 ratio, which is very close to most camera's sensors/film frames.

Absolutely lovely silhouette, with some superb colours, Marilyn.
A great shot, very beautiful and compelling.
Why did you crop it so tight vertically? I wish there was more room above the bird. In fact, to be a really boring critic, I'd have the bird a bit closer to the corner, maybe on intersecting thirds, and really looking into the picture.

This is beautiful, like the texture of the water combined with the sunset. The egret silhouette makes it perfect. Nicely done.
