The depth of field is spot on for this, enough detail is left in the background to remain interesting but not enogh for it to become too distracting. :~}

Really well done! I love cathedrals as well! So many opportunities for beautiful photos in there. The detail and lighting here are great. The problem I find with some of these smaller sculptures in a cathedral is giving them a sense of scale, which you have done here perfectly by including the stained glass windows in the background (of which I have an approximate idea of scale). Good job taking the photo handheld as well. I think that in France they do allow you to bring a tripod inside...they seem to be very proud of their lighting effects and don't mind if people photograph them.
Cheers, Marc

The golden Basilica framed by the stained glass makes an impressive compositon, George. Well composed and exposed. I particularly like the deep golden color tones of the Basilica. Best wishes and thanks for your kind comments, Larry

the stained glass feels like doors of light opening to the golden church thru them. Beautifully framed.

How very clever that you focused the middle and left those windows equally proportioned on the side and out of focus so the viewer can sense...but just sense the beauty of them. You inspired me to go to the cathedral in Uppsala to try to get some shots, it seems as though there are number of options in angles as well as objects and shadows. I?ll be waiting for your next church image
