The quality of the light here is very nice, a reflector in the lower right corner would have cut the contrast range a bit. The shadow inbetween the leftmost vases(?) could have been elimated while still preserving the lighting. Lastly, that upper left corner is way to bright, my eye darts right to it in a distracting manner.

The vases were part of an exhibit at a trade fair here in the Philippines. I concur that a little less shadow on the right vase would've been better. I should have brought a reflector with me. Focus is on the soft side as this was shot through a gauzy material which was hanging in front of these vases and which could not be moved. Color shift may be due to me not being patient enough with Photoshop to match the colors on the transparency. I was using a Nikon SB28 which was being hand held by a friend of mine aimed through the gauzy material to light the subject.

first off I would like to say I love these vases. They are really unique. Second, an image such as thuis needs focus all the way through the subject past of the image. If the subject is going to be out of focus or softly focussed it needs to have a reason and needs to be focussed carefully. The backdrop can be out of focus and that is cool. But the subject needs to be focussed all the way through or focus should be on one plane and the rest softly out of focus. See Ione Zupco in this months Lenswork.com
And the color shift bothers me here. Also the framing is a little tight on the top for the flowers. They seem a little squished at the top. You left no room for them to breathe. Would you do this again and make the corrections. I'd really like to have you see the results. This image has a lot of potential and I love the symitry of the set up. James

This photograph appeals to me on many levels. I like the subtle use of color, and I like the composition of vases. The image would be improved if the vases were not tilting ever so slightly to the left, and I would like to see just a bit less shadow on the vase on the right. Ninfa, are these your vases? I just love the texture and designs on them.
