Your shots of this dragonfly are real studies! One can easily forget that this is an insect and think instead it is some creature trying hard to reach the peak.Very impressive and almost surreal!Thank you so much for the comments at my latest photo with tiny blooms. It is not often that I get such accolades! YT

A great series, Mary Sue. Equisetum at it's finest, with a new dragonfly, no less! Excellent sharpness, powerful macro.

Outstanding the composition and color contrast, a very original macro. Needs a wee bit more DOF to show the body and eyes sharp. Anyway, excellent shot !

Superb colours and fine pose. Shot faster, it might be even sharper. Do you know the species of this dragon? One I've not seen before.
Cheers - Bill

MS! This is splendid! I agree with Kim about the eyes being just a little soft, but since you only notice if you're looking for it, it's not a problem.
If I was trying to describe to a city kid, what a dragonfly looks like, this is what I'd use as an illustration. It defines it perfectly, with the vivid "alien-ness" of it and the primordial backdrop of the horsetail reeds.
And aesthetically, it's gorgeous too!
Nice job.

Wow, even at f8 the DOF is so shallow... crazy at how hard it can be to capture these guys! There seems to be a strip up the middle of the dragonfly, plus the legs which are super sharp... the eyes have missed just a teeny bit... this is still an amazing shot.. so close, and such great colour!
