The foreground flowers are montbretia of some kind. They are wild and plentiful in Southwest Ireland. Originally South African, I think. And the photo? I like it. Are foreground spiky leaves bad feng shui for photographs?

It's a little well-manicured garden on the edge of the wilderness! Great colours. Very different background to the similar flowers in Italy, though. I'd guarantee there's nowhere looking quite like this anywhere in Japan! Typically English...

This is certainly not my garden, I'd be proud if it was! The rag on the clothes line is only about five feet off the ground. It must be an optical illusion, if you think it's too high. The restriction in the viewing of our images, means you can't get the detail, that our images really have. Thanks for the comment, Brandy

wonderful full yard view. I could live with that. is this your yard. I am curious about the rag on the line. isnt that to high for a cloths line.

Thanks for the kind comment, Dave. I'm glad you got the impression I wanted to capture with this - last garden before the wilderness - image!

That'll be great, Keith. I know the cheviot hills around Wooler, like the back of my hand! The rest is up to the weather, clouds and light! Contact me on my email address, on my bio, to arrange it.

I like the way the road leads up and away into the wilderness, Colin, and the contrasting colours of the flowers with the predominant green of the rest of the image. Dave.

Great scene Colin, nice cultivated garden before the wildness of nature takes over in the background. Small suggestion when the sky te3nds to go into white in places a very small border round it helps contains the scene. Margaret Thank you for your comment

Thanks Ellen. I didn't get any floral macros. as this is someone's private garden. (and they probably didn't want me lurking in there!)
I simply wanted my composition, to show the sharp line, between 'civilsation', with tis beautifully attended garden, and the Northumberland wilderness. I hope I achieved that.

Thanks for the great critique, MaLuisa. I wanted to leave the power lines in, as this old frontier/border town, is about 40 years behind the urban towns! (It has virtually no crime, due to its remoteness).
I just left the image as it was, with no messing.

Colin this a wonderful scene those coral colored flowers against the dark green is just candy for the eyes. The dahlias in the back add a nice touch of interest. Did you get a chance to shoot the dahlias up close?

What a beautiful garden Colin... The flowers are really awesome... Excellent colors and composition.. Great sky...
It is a shame that there are so much cables... The prize of civilization... We have the same problem here in Puerto Rico... Everywhere you go there are cables... :(
Very well composed shot... Love the road in the background...
Cheers,
MaLuisa

What a pretty garden. Amazing, 'cos they must get a lot of wind where they are. A pity about the power lines. Very good DOF. Good exposure, just a bit too much clutter in the pic, I feel. No particular point of interest. Still nice, though. Cheers, Ann.
