About As usual, you go out to shoot one thing and get another. This is an example of it. For the first time in a long time I had the day to go out shooting. This is the first post - I could have got closer only for the dog frightened it off (then again if the camera could process the raw files faster I'd be fine!). Kept the dept to about the f8 to keep the grasshopper sharp and throw out the background. Amazing how well camoflauged they can stay.

His [2 years down the line after winning the Hassleblaad] article had a very depressing tone I must admit. I'm not sure but I think he was considering selling the camera !! Anyway hes in the driving seat. The shot you submitted will certainly fullfill their most requested criteria - something different! Best of luck with it. I sent in the London Eye image. Not my most favourite architectural shot but it has broad appeal so I figured it was a good bet on those grounds.

Oh, so he's that bloke who hasn't used Charlie's camera. I hadn't twigged that it was him! Seems like a bit of a whinger from the article they did with him - we can't have him winning. You need to pull out all the stops. I sent in a different crop of the B&W image of Bishop Rock lighthouse with the diffraction spikes and circles. I'm not expecting great results but I thought I ought to give it a go just to see what I should aim for next year.

I have a few options for the circles round that I will post later, are you going for it yourself? It was nice to win the last round and it gave my chances a good boost. However its not clear if my last submission for the B&W Architecture round made it in time. It got to the UK quickly but thats all they can tell me. Anyway I will find out soon I suppose. A guy called Paul Whiting is in the lead currently and keeps scoring in every round so he will be very hard to catch. There is not a huge difference in points between the winner and the person in 30th so its a mammoth task. Also like yourself, he excels at landscape work so his Autumn scene should be right up there. I think he won Charlie Waites old camera before and doesnt use it! He might have another 5 grands worth of gear lying around too soon enough!

Fair pic. I have to say the contrast is not great, or the definition of the foreground or background.. Pity you did'nt get the little Mofo with a darker background. And you're overdoin it on the frames. No offence intended at all. We all need a bit of honesty now and then, don't we? I've taken nearly all my pics off site. You guys just dont know how brilliant I am! Watch my space...

Ah glasshopper! Nicely done, perfect DoF. Have you got your circles shot organised yet? Your win in the last round and the poor showing by the current leader must mean that you've now got a chance!
