Fantastic capture Judi and I love the colours.
I'm so sorry to hear about what has been going on. I have lost quite a few friends on here over the years and it is very sad.
I love your work Judi, your style is unique and you do things with that camera that Sony wouldn't have believed possible. And you are a true inspiration to all of us :-)
The only constructive criticism I have at this moment is to STOP posting cake, candy and food photographs when I still have to wait a few hours for dinner ;-)
Best wishes, Steve

Had it on my mind but didn?t express: wise words above Judi, I thought we were here to help and inspire each other and compete [if any?] in a fair way. Both are fabulous!
The height and expresion of the figure in "I'm Coming Back" suggests ecstasy and actual flight. The figure's physical relationship here suggests a strong bond between the two. "C'mon let's jump together!" But I don't see a reason for a series here, at least not yet. (A reason for a series might be three figures jumping in the next image.) Suggest you make the tough decision on which one you like best, and after a while take one down. It should give the remaining one more impact.

Hi Judi
It is a sign of photographic maturity for one to adopt a style, and you certainly have. This adoption must help you immensely in your professional line and I believe it helps to build a following (its easy to recognize your style).
There are always those who appreciate your work and style and there are those desperate people (often who haven?t found a style for themselves) who get insanely jealous - especially if they don't get as many comments and as high scores as you do. It is a childish trait, and shows that they are not mature enough to realize their proudly owned photos just are not as well accepted and followed as yours are (for whatever reason - maybe they are not as good or maybe they are as good but haven?t yet built up a consistent style that people recognize, maybe its their jealous nature that turns people away).
I have sometimes seen my scores and comments dropping over time, although I believe I am getting more experienced and better, I often attempt some of the less cliché and more experimental photos - learning and practicing new techniques that don't always attract as many followers. I haven?t really adopted or built a style yet and don?t have so much of a feel for what will make a brilliant photo and how to catch it properly - that comes with much more experience. Therefore, I never get the comments or scores you get, but I accept that not being a professional, don't often get the time to practice enough, haven?t had time to build up a large following by commenting enough on other peoples photos and submitting often, having consistent good quality photos (in your sort of league) etc.
It is an intensely competitive field, and there will always be jealousy - take it as a sign of your success (although not necessarily a very comfortable one). There are frustrated people out there who have the equipment (much more expensive than yours or mine), but just don't have the ability...
PS Sorry for the dissertation - I love your work, originality and simple elegance along with your distinctive style - this photo is no exception :-) - well done...

Well now Judi.... that has been my attitude all along... you can never please everybody...!!! So ok... hate my pic... drop my rating....ok too!!! I'm behind it, or else I wouldn't put it up.... it's what I stated in the about of The calming fields. I know a: 'what a stunner' is great and positive critique like 'next time maybe....' is even better, because that's how you learn and grow.... ok enough about that... now to your pic: I hate it.... neh, just kidding.... this is another great one... super colors, silhouettes and mood, excellent composition... well captured!!! BTW I hope they had something soft to land on.... ;-D!!!

I spotted this superb image, then read the "about", and found a story that was strikingly familiar. Yes, there are trolls out there, and yes they are annoying, but at the end of the day their comments and scores will do little or no damage to a truly excellent image. AJ

Thanks Chris for your understanding. It did get me down for a while...but then I thought..."WHY?" and then I came to the realisation that I am not going to lower my standards to suit these trolls. They are not worth my time....so hence the message to them.
I, too am like you. I don't have time to comment on everyones photos, as much as I would like to. But that doesn't mean I don't view them and enjoy the wonderful images that confront me on a daily basis.

I find it extraordinary and really very sad that this kind of jealousy exists, Judi! I also put pictures on photo.net and on that site I've experienced a similar thing, if not worse!! Quite honestly, I find the whole thing pathetic!!! And you're right, this fine site can well do without the kind of sad person who gets some kind of perverse pleasure out of downgrading someone's work.
Your work has lond been a source of enjoyment and inspiration to me. I salute your commitment to excellence and your eye for beauty. I admire your skill in capturing it and your gift of creativity. Don't let the "trolls" get you down!!
On a personal note, I've disabled the ability to 'rate' my images as I feel the rating system is open to abuse and that most people just mark everything 6 or 7 regardless? But, like you, I value constructive criticism as well as a brief comment from a good 'friend' just to let me know they've dropped by.
Keep up the great work, Judi! I might not comment on your every picture, but that's only down to time not desire.
My best regards,
Chris
