I particularly like this perspective Rina. A popular shot (of which I took a lesser version)is the Monument Valley stretch of highway through the Navajo Indian reservation in Arizona. This shot reminded me of that special location. The sepia tones you got here are very striking.

Hmmm... pixelated eh? Could be it got an extra dose of sharpening during the site's upgrade. But yeah, it doesn't look quite right, does it? Thanks for pointing it out to me. Not a grouch in the least, you're supposed to critique. I'd rather have someone rip the cr*p out of images so I can do something about it next time, than NOT knowing there's something off and having the whole world looking - pointing and laughing actually - but saying nothing. Cheers mate. The song struck a chord with hubby too. If I've invoked any kind of emotion, then I'm at least halfway there... :)

no my only complaint (sheesh what a ferkin grouch) is its pixellated to blazes on my side of the ditch...bloody ripper shot otherwiase great angles melancholic mood enhanced by sepia toning.. I can hear Emmylou now singing "Two red dirt girls in a red dirt town just across the line an a little south east of Meridian" bravo you can almost feel Grace Cossington Smith too eh XLNT

Wouldn't dream of it! It's one of the things I love about the scene. Without it, the image may not be as interesting... :)
Cheers Gary and thanks for stopping by!

I get the feelig this shot would work in any modality BW or colour, toned etc. As far as angles go, I think you've chosen the best - but if you do reshoot, please don't lose that little kink in the road at the horizon! Regards, Gary

Wow....Rina, this is tremendous! The hillsides are such a rich, dark tone...yet they retain all of the important details. The overall composition is flawless, with the way you selected the hills and the slight curve... I love it! And as for suggestions.... I would suggest that you send you this original, before you go out to do it again! I'll take good care of it... ...Brad

Hello Rina, thanks for your kind words on my image: Cafe Two.
I very much like this image of yours. It's strong as it is but, to respond to your request, you might try some croping. Just move around the edges to see how the graphics and emphasis are changed. You could also try darkening the ample foreground slightly, perhaps in a "V" shape to lead the eye upwards to the horison.
Several great photographers made images of their children, Bret Weston and Imaogen Cunningham, for example.
Good luck and thanks again.
Bob

eh eh eh.. hello, I have seen with big pleasure that "your style" is coming outside in obvious way... the perspective "strong", the tones "hard".. optimal photos and optimal ideas.. moreover I find always the sense of something deeper in the photos, this road that one on which we are.. to times he can be empty and we find ourselves alone, but there is a tree here.. to the horizon a friend!!! hugs

Yes, I wondered about that, which is why I asked. Sure, it's a nice enough photo, but it seemed wrong somehow and I thought it may have been my position. Thanks Linda, I will try again.

It's great Rina, nice perspective and tones, if I were going to do it again, I might try moving to the left some more to creat more of a diagonal, and I only suggest that because you asked, I think it's great as it is...nice work...Linda

Very good tonalities! The details on the road and that soft sky make an good balance. If you go back, you may try a lower angle, closer to the valley, and a little to the left/right.
