Gayle I love the way you've framed this moment. that little bit of white on the work in progress (heart) stands out as the main subject while the boys silhouette tells the story. A fine image indeed.

I am just starting to get into graf art (stencils mostly) It is interesting how different communities react differently to grafitti. In Oakland, tags are usually painted over within a few days if they are somewhere very visible. Alot of places in San Francisco however encourage it... if you take the Bay Bridge there is alot of intricate and amazing grafitti. The area around my school is completely plastered with interesting stencils that stay around for a long time :)

Gayle, you're getting more creative by the day! I think this is brilliant. I really like the way you "painted" this using the shadows. Also, the very, very white paint contrasts so well against the shadows. The sidelighting you used to bring out some texture in the wall keeps the image from seeming flat.

Very well composed / cropped, Gayle . Unique creativity going on here, a really good piece. But the viewer must take the unhurried view least he fails to spot the fascinating encounter, the absolute point on the wall where the spray paint meets the spray shadow.

hi and thanks,Dirck...i don't use sharpening because i get too much noise when resize for UF,so the fringing is probably part of the pastel effect from a "saplet" offering as part of my paintshop pro8 program...it gives it a feathering look...

What a wonderful shot, Gayle! I love the way you can see the shadow of the paint spray coming out of the can and the fact that only the artists arm and 'brush' can be seen! The depth of the shadows is excellent, too (there's a little bit of a fringe around the shadow from sharpening.) Very innovative work!

oh, the graf art disappears in certain areas quicker than you would expect!...luckily,in Seattle there are areas which not only allow it,but encourage it because they recognize it as "urban street art" in an outside gallery for the people!....i'm not talking about quick tags,i'm referring to the more detailed creative pieces that are eye candy compared to the drab concrete structures....thanks for dropping by!

Interesting idea... It's just that the graf artist can walk away when he's done. So can his shadow. But not the graf.
