About I don't know the real name of this flower, but when I planted it, it was about 6 inches tall...it's now about 4 1/2 feet tall and loaded with blossoms.
Hope you like it!

Hiya Susie.........first things first.......

...............HAPPY BIRTHDAY.....................

I saw Kathy's greeting to you. Now before I do any more commenting I traveled back in time to a point before I joined UF to tell you what I do at work.....but I didn't want to share the info with every Tom, Dick and Harriet......here goes..

I am the quality controller on two regional and two national magazines....I am also past the normal age of retirement!! I can't imagine not going to work any more and the management of the company are kind enough to say that I am more than good enough to be retained.....well, we'll see if they continue to say that if I turn up in a wheelchair with a guide dog:):)
I start work on Monday night at 10pm and work through until 2,3 or 4pm on Tuesday afternoon so a total there of 16/18hrs work on the main magazine. I get home and perhaps do a little commenting in UF, if I can focus on the screen. An early evening meal and bed by 10pm or 11pm latest then it's up again at 5am on a Wednesday morning and off to work for 6am on the free distribution magazine. Finish at about 5pm or so. I also work 1 or 2 Thursdays a month for the other 2 mags. One other occasional element of my work is to go and instruct the sales team on how to prepare their copy for the setters.

I oversee the proofing department and chase the tails of the setting department, additionally I liase with the art studio when I want their artworks changed or adjusted. My most important job is to scan all the pages prior to sending on an ISDN line to the printers to eliminate any imperfections or errors involving artwork or photographs.

The magazines are full of dealers and private customers selling cars,trucks,m/bikes,caravans etc and seperately, boats and yachts, some at the most unbelievable of prices; millions of dollars, euros or pounds.

Hope I haven't caused you to fall asleep sweetie and hopefully you have an idea why I fall behind every week:):) My lovely wife Heather does continually hound me to retire and I keep stalling about when I might consider it. She is some years younger than me and still goes to work so I will carry on until she joins me full time in our love nest:):)

Once again.....a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY Susie and BTW this is a very beautiful floral composition. A big hug and all my very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Oh how pretty Susie. I just found this from Kelly's macro red flower image. Now I know what Kelly's flower is....hang on a minute....we STILL don't know what it is do we. hehe. :) I thought it might have been a Chinese red popy but now seeing this I can clearly see it's not that but more of a bush flower. You don't think it's one of the hibiscus family do you? I guess we'll just call it the mystery flower until somebody can identify it. Anyway it's beautiful and I like the framing too.

Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Susie, This is an abutilon or flowering Maple, (check the leaf shape.) A great plant.
The flash does not give depth of colour. More daylight for this shot, I think.

Love the rich colors - all of them - in this shot, but I do agree with Margaret about that vertical light colors going up the middle of the shot - looks fantasic when that was toned down. I also, really like the frame you put around the shot - nice finishing touch! Thanks for the comment on my Echos of Fall. We really have to drive "forever" for us to find even a hint of the rich fall colors that natures blesses the trees with in areas that actually have definitive changes of seasons. Oh well, that's the price we pay for mostly great weather here! Jan

excellent capture.. love the colors, the lighting looks like it was toned down a bit in PS but looks good... I am not that crazy about the frame but that is just me, I rather not have a frame or have one that is not too intrusive..although the blurred effect is different... good work

I am so glad you didn't mind, I try to be constructive, especially as I would like things like that pointed out. When you get a shot as fabulous as this, you can miss something little because you are so thrilled at how good it is. When something is so good it deserves to be as perfect as possible. I do so love it Margaret

Thank you for your honest critique Mohamed. I truly appreciate it. The pink is my windowbox of petunias in the background. This was the best view to get the trio of reds so I went with it. I kind of liked it to add an unusual twist to the photo, but I understand how you don't. We all have our distinct likes and dislikes!
Thanks again my friend!
Susie

THANK YOU! I didn't look closely enough. I guess the pipe (gray downspout) didn't catch my attention. You keep my on my toes Margaret. Your enhanced version is better. I really like these things pointed out to me.
Best regards,
Susie

Susie this is stunning, gorgeous rich tones and wonderful lighting. Frame adds to the lovely image to make such an excellent composition. There is a minor point, which as it is such a superb image, might be worth a bit of adjustment, [don't know if it is a pipe in the background] the slightly lighter bit going through the comp could be darkened, so as not to detract the eye for a second from the gorgeous colours of the flowers [hd a quick play]

nice flower
would i say somthing dear Susie

i dont like th epurple in the background, yes it is out of focus,, but it takes a lot from the beauty in the front red flower,, and may be they are not matched color hue or degree

sorry about that ,, but this is my opinion
beside that the pgoto itself is well done in lighting and focus

all my best regards

Hi Rina,
Thanks for the nice comment! I use Photoshop Elements 3 and this frame is an extra add-in called border effect. I filled it with a grain pattern after applying. It's my first time trying it and I liked the results too!
Have a great day looking for photos!

Beautiful colors, Susie. Wish I could grow flowers like that. I use the "companion" planting method........bindweed.

Beautiful! I like. Red and glossy. DoF is superb as well as the natural light. The framing packs a punch, what software are you using?
