About Strong solar activity buffeted Earth's magnetic field on Sept 10-11, causing a strong geomagnetic storm. Auroras were seen as far south as Arizona.

These pictures were taken just north of Ottawa, Ontario. The top image is a panoramic assembly of four images. The bottom three images show the overhead component of the aurora quickly changing shapes in the matter of seconds!

Another geomagnetic storm is due to arrive around Sept 15th.

Thanks Mary!! As for the auroras, you just got to keep trying. Sooner or later, you'll see an unforgettable display to take pictures of. Hopefully, we don't have to wait to long before we see one again.

Hey Shane,

Thanks! I didn't think of it that way, but the overhead aurora does look like space art. As if we're about to enter a worm hole or something ;0)

Wonderful composite, Pierre. Beautiful pictures and educational, too. Geesh, I keep missing the auroras this year. I always seem to be in the wrong place. Superb presentation.

Hi Pierre,

Beautiful shots! I really love the overhead shots of the apex. They look like spaceart shots we used to see in the science magazines of the 70's and 80's. Well done!

Hello Cytte,

Thanks for the great comment! The color of the water was due to street lights reflecting off of the fog. It provided a nice contrast to the green aurora.
