About I liked the frame within a frame idea again, and the rustic nature of this subject. 320/sec f/4.2 34mm focal length. Big crop.

Hey Josh, thank you for your comments, which I regard as total crap...

Haha, only kidding, but I'd love to see fewer mutual-congratulatory comments on here - it's mawkish, silly, pointless. As for your comments, I agree wholeheartedly. As you probably noticed, I tweaked the light and colour from the window. And if I had the skill, I'd have added a shaft of light which spilled onto the barn floor and called it (as qualification) "photoart". I am very cool about Photoshopping as long as folk make it clear in their description of the pic. What really BUGS me is when ppl have added a sky or some such and passed it off as a regular photo. Grrr...

Best regards, Ant

I like the style and the mood that you've portrayed in this pic. It really dictates the viewer's feelings. Technically, I think it might be a little bit dark. Its not really that the scene is super dark, but the inside is much too dark compared to the bright green coming in from the window. If you are going to keep the image as dark as it is then that is fine, but the green needs to be toned down a little. If you brighten up the inside of the building then the mood will change but the picture will be a little bit more balanced. You have to make the call of what is more important: mood or esthetics...

No, it's another one. Someone "the younger" or "the older." It doesn't matter...

Ina, that's not a lot to go on and i really honestly have no idea. I have always been enormously affected by Vermeer's work though.

Kathy and Ahmed, thank you very much. It is very gratifying to be receiving comments from photographers like you (and of course Margaret and Ina). You are all helping me learn a lot, and in a way that's immensely enjoyable.

Hi Ant, Maybe you can remember - cos' I couldn't who was the Dutch painter. It was a woman and perhaps some other figures in front of a house - a vertical painting. I tried to retrieve it, but I just can't remember his name. If I find him, I'll do a cut & paste :)

Why am I not surprised by your keen, informed perceptiveness Ina (except you forgot the lute haha)! Yah, for sure, Dutch School was creeping into my mind in post-processing. Thank you my mentor!

I like the "painterly" quality - if that was your intention. Now I'm waiting for the lady with a long red skirt, white apron, Dutch bonnet and milk jug to appear from the left, and stand just about where the brick column is :)

Oh, as for geometry, this barn leans to the left cuz it's like 300 years old. Nothing compared with Britain's barns I know, but give us Yankees some latitude Margaret (hehe).

Margaret! Eh? What were you even THINKING?

Have you been at the scotch again?

Hmmm?

LOL - as always, I love your comments and value them a great deal.

Very nice capture through a frame within a frame. The window at the back adds so much beauty to this photo.

Anthony, I love the idea of the frame within the frame, but think maybe it is a little dark for me, loosing some of the detail/texture of the wood perhaps. Have had a go, also rotated .5 to just square it up. see what you think

I like this too, Anthony! Very rustic feel with that pop of color through the back window. Nicely done!
