Come on down to Louisiana, I'm sure you could get some incredible shots and I could learn lots from you! Let me know if you get to Louisiana. The spring and early summer are really great at Lake Martin, our local bird rookery. Darlene

Darlene,
I love viewing yours and most of the other Nature shots here. It's like thumbing through National Geographic, except you get to communicate with the photographers.

Darlene,
This image is really stunning! I honestly think it is one of the best you have posted, and that is saying a lot. The DOF with that beautiful moody background is like an oil painting. Almost surreal back there. I love the pose of the bird and those neck feathers almost look like fur. I don't know about other people's monitors, but your shots always look great on mine.

No Sam, I think she was preening, must be feathers or fur or something, I'm not sure but I've seen it before on beaks of other anhingas. Thanks so much for the comments! Darlene

What a pose and so beautifully caught in the morning light. I love the difference in feathers both in texture and color, and the wonderful dof with the glimpse of spanish moss behind. Alison

The "Snake Bird," right? He is a real beauty. You composed this very well to display the whole body. And the background treatment is excellent as well.
