It's a great shot, but without understanding the background could come across as quite disturbing. I notice various comments - I perhaps agree with Chris about the boy's eye. But I would leave the dark patch at top left - I don't think it detracts from the image at all. Just to add my 2 cents though, I would prefer the boy to be on the right of the image because of the angle at which he is standing and the direction he is looking.

Superb composition and toning, Janet.
Just a shame that the little boy's left eye is obscured by a link of the fence.

It took me a minute to adjust to only being able to see one eye, but now that I have, I love it that way. Great job and perfect for the Alone project.

I thought about that, David, along with cropping it lower and obviously decided against both. I really like the space (again!) and I my cloning skills aren't that great. The 'thing' is a boarded up window leading to the inside of the barn.
