This shot portrays the aftermath of the hurricane so well--the subdued colours of the broken branches, the little vehicle stopped in its tracks by the damage. The touch of the blue toy with the dirty face and the twisted wheels shots loneliness and sadness. Superb shot. Too bad it was there for you to take.

Yes Margaret, this is only about a mile from our camp but we were lucky, our camp is up on pilings and so everything we lost was in the storage rooms. The folks further down the bayou were in one story homes and lost everything, it is so very sad. I took these pics yesterday and they had just opened the road, very hard to believe this happened to so many people. Darlene

Thanks Todd. We are all fine here, had some flooding at a camp we have below Houma but it's nothing compared to a lot of these folks who lost everything.

Very sad Darlene. The way the childs car is battered and the way that the wheels are twisted sideways as if it can't be bothered to roll on anymore once it met the stripped branches of a tree blocking its' path.
I found this photo to be both sad and very expressive.

A sad and compelling photo. I hope people viewing this will contribute to the Red Cross or other organization to get the hurricane victims back to a normal life.

Yes this is a sad situation, which you are much closer to it then most. the picture portrays sadness as a childs toy without a child always looks out of place.

What a reality Shot. This shot to me is like a coin. It has two sides. It is sad because of the destruction and being able to see the silver lining. I Know things will never be the same for most people. But I think things like this makes people realize that they need to treasure everything and everyone they have in their life and not take anything for granted.
My thoughts and Prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragic and life changing event.
Thank so very much for sharing this with us my Friend!
Best regards
