About This young Amish lad is in complete control of his horses. And he needs to be: look closely - he's coming up to a T junction! And I am very sad to report from what I have seen that the more oafish drivers of SUV's and trucks in particular harrass and endanger these peaceful people and their animals as a matter of ignorant, macho routine. It makes me wince; the more I experience the Amish, the more I reflect, in a tiny tiny way, how I could be more in touch with things that really matter to the future of "civilisation". Glib I know, but I shall not forget my experience here.

Utterly, in fact it's slightly creepy!

Wow! That IS an amazing coincidence. I guess we have some images in our mind, and then we recognize them when we see them somewhere else? Wow, that is extraordinary!

And of course, Andrew's pic is fantastic - his angle and most everything else. I just wanted to make the point of coincidence.

...and here's mine, taken only a few days ago without any knowledge of your comment:

Ina, I'm honoured to have you mention my work in the same breath as Andrew Wyeth (blush). By amazing coincidence, here's his barn loft:

It's whatever you want, Ant. Journalism these days is as personal and subjective as art :) There is no fine line anymore, not that I know when there was one.

Meh, I know what you mean Ina: is it journalism or art? We have the power to make it both hehe :)

Hi Ant, I was off, but I got a little break. I'll be on and off till Tuesday. As far as values, what seems idyllic from the outside may be restrictive on the inside. I don't know. However, I feel lucky to be free to choose, at whatever cost this may come. Nothing is perfect.
This series reminds me of one of my favorite artists (not necessarily related) - Andrew Wyeth.

Ina, I'm thinking of doing the same re ratings. In fact, I shall do so right now because they are not a reliable index of anything of any substance.

Hey Ina! - Thought you were out of action till Saturday? Wow, thank you for your comments. I wanted to make a small political point in this image though :) I am SO cross I can't even tell you. The zoning laws here are to me absolutely disgusting and immoral - land is being sold off and Disneyesque, profit-driven mindlessness is at the cusp of destroying this small survival of perhaps deeper values.

On second look, I'd clone out the post on the right of the image. BTW - Very brave statement you have there. I'm thinking of turning off the ratings, although I'm wondering if they actually help me learn something about my pictures, or they are just a popularity index. Take care, Ina

Fantastic series, Ant! This image has a timeless and robust quality. This one is more successful even than the school kids, because they have those plastic coolers :-(
Here everything is timeless (I'd clone out the yellow sign)- would make a great American painting. Ina
