For almost 210 years it has marked the gate to the cemetary at Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, near Oceanside, California. I love to wander around the grounds of the old California missions. The small details tell a rich story of our past and give me a little glimpse of how things were in their daily lives.

Daniel, this what the entire cemetary gate looks like. It was a very bright day and I decided to bracket an extra exposure of each image by adding one aperture stop above the "Sunny 16" rule. A good thing because the white of the buildings was so bright.
