About This looks just like a normal silhouette of a bird, if you look closer you'll see the fishing line wrapped around it's feet. Sad

I like how the Heron seems to be examining the cityscape. The sharpness of the bird is nice against the blurred background of the city. I rather like the underexposed nature of the photo. It's good that your were able to capture the fine fishing line; I find it interesting that the line is white when viewed against the dark ground and dark against the light sky.
Additionally, thank you for your comments on my "Seastack" photograph.

oh, and I also exclaimed "Awwwwww!"

Ok. Now it's sad.

White-faced Heron

Unless the fishing line falls off
(unlikely), the bird is doomed to
die in an ugly way. Somewhere on
www is a page of dozens of photographs
taken by rehabbers of birds that
starved, strangled, hung upside down
in trees to death. The items that
usually kill them are fishing line,
but not far behind are (now discontinued)
plastic soda can six pack carriers, and
plastic bags.

It could still fly, and didn't let me get close to it. I left it a little underexposed so it would look more like a silhouette. I dont know what kinda bird this was haha

i saw the line straight off.....my question is,were you able to cut it off? and is this a fisherking bird?......good dof and comp...seems a bit underexposed, but maybe just looks darker on monitors compared to a print...regards,gayle

I saw this guy eat a crab, so he probably just uses the fishing line to fool his prey into thinking he's weak, then takes them off-guard. Just like me muahahahaha

...time's up!

In the USA birds have to take a fishing class before they get their wings.

..and then I thought...

Maybe he's walking his lizard? That's not too sad.

Normal? I don't think so, the visible detail in the bird makes it a great photo.

....I'll leave it at that for now...
