Thanks very much Hugo, I have some new panoramics (crops) of this industrial complex with a cargo ship. Unfortunately I don't think I can do any panoramic stitching because the smoke changes from shot to shot :)

Hi Ina, after your reply on your steel plant image, I decided to take a closer look at your portfolio.. .I could spend days going over the photos. Very impressive (Duh. Why am I not surprised). Love the plumes of steam; looks like the cooling of the coal / cokes. Great shot, with a very strong atmosphere.
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks Eleisa :) This is my ongoing project. In fact, this afternoon I caught a red & white ship loading there, so there's going to be more of these. I really love this subject, the smoke is like white clouds - perhaps it's steam, I don't know. Thanks for your nice comments, Ina

Looks like it would be a hellish place in real life. But however those clouds were formed the make beautiful shapes. I like the diagonal composition and the coloring is perfect. This is my favorite of today's three.

Hi Gyorgy, thanks for the compliments :) The contrast boost in Photoshop did lighten/ darken some areas more than I liked, but I had to find a compromise somewhere. I thought it was a pleasant surprise, too, when I saw your wonderful clouds today! We all see what's around us! Regards, Ina

Wow, Ina, what a coincidence of my clouds and your smoke. This is incredibly beautiful and overwhelming at the same time. The composition is perfect and I am flabergasted (is it right to use this word here?) by the technical quality. Not a pixel is burnt out in the glowing whites! I also like the blurred background sky. Congratulations: Gyorgy

Hi Endre, you are absolutely right :) there is more to every image than just what meets the eye! Sometimes there is an untold story, sometimes there are issues, and many times the photographer is just a recording eye, but once an image is out, it takes a life of its own! Kindest regards, Ina

Hi Endre, I knew the subject of pollution would come to mind in this series, although this wasn't my intention. However, it is undeniable. We often have smog advisories here, and I think a lot has to do not just with industries, but the cars we drive, the products we use, even agriculture. Having said this, I take the painterly approach... :)

From among the 3 shots with smokestacks I like THIS ONE!That dramatically shaped smoke-like-cloud looks like suspended cotton! As if it were put there by hand! The foreground, though dark, looks alive. The small fire draws the eye. Very special composition and the best chosen tonality8from among the 3 shots). Love from Gabriela

I'm almost tempted to say that this is better than the other! Again, excellent contrast and comp, like the little fire in the middle of the shot too, but that smoke contrasting against the clouds - awesome!!!!
