Like you I struggle with lighting and Daniel has a good point..reflected or bounced light. Never-the-less it is good shot with strong colour and detail....well done, kind regards

Looks vary good! MMmmMmm!!!! If you can change the direction of your flash that might help. If it?s on the camera then put a piece of paper to reflect the light up and it should bounce off the ceiling. But I must say I like the image!
