Yes, thats the thumb rule... but thats just guidline any there can be many exceptions. I personally think second one is beter. Best of luck. ~Sameer

Hi, Sameer - that is a very good question as that is quite a bit of wasted space. When I scanned this I cropped it to 8x10, and this is more or less just how it worked out. Hm. The conventional wisdom is not to center the horizon line, of course. I played with the cropping a bit (see attached).

nice one. Have u intentionaly kept the horizontal line at the center? how it coult have been if more of the sky and less of the dark portion was included?

Now here's a prairie scene I can totally relate to. Those long lingering sunsets allow us to set up the lawn chairs and just enjoy (as long as the mosquitos aren't out in full force!). By the way, it's really the ball cap gives this away as a prairie scene! Your picture has me longing for summer. Nicely done!
