About I photographed this in our local mountains of Julian, a neat little community. Sadly shortly after this was taken some 'sick arsonist' started what was called the 'Cedar Fire'...Worst fire in CA history, unbelievable what this area (and miles and miles beyond)looked like after that.

I forgot I had even taken this image.

Sorry I haven't been online a lot this past month or so, I'll be catching up soon. It's been a busy time for us.

Have missed seeing so many of your excellent images!!

Lori :)

This is really nice with the intense backlighting. That's one of the things about photography ? preserving the views that no longer exist in reality.

amazinly deep textures on this one Lori, almost like a palette knife and oil painting.

very effective

You've captured, this now devasted area, in your excellent image, Lori. An instant of beauty, recorded forever. Very poignant title, given the fire. The PS work is superb, and is a fine tribute to this, now scarred place. But nature will regrow it again.

Exceptional texturing and Autumnal tones.

Regards
Colin

Hi Lori,

the textures in this image look incredible.... luke a fire that makes his way through the print. There is a strong relation to the real world catastrophy you mentioned.

Thanks for the recent feedback!

best wishes,
Thilo

Hey thanks Mark,
glad to hear from you.

Julian is a mountain community north east of SD. Takes about an hour to get there. Really a neat place, beautiful scenery, it was anyway. Lots of people lost their houses and businesses.

Gustav, thank you SO MUCH! From you I take your comment as an award itself!

Yes, you just wouldn't believe the amount of devestation. We live about an hour from Julian, and we had to evacuate our home. I honestly did not think we would have a house left, so I was so thankful when that night I called our house and the phone recorder went on, I figured if the house burnt down there would be nothing. It was a true miracle! (and I'm thankful)

Glad you like this image!

Hi Lori,
this is a true MASTERPIECE. It does deserve a price IMO.
It certainly makes one feel very sad reading what has happened to this beautiful place having been destroyed by some sick arsonist.
