About This is the view from the bridge upto the keep at Sandal Castle. The thing inthe middle was part of the castle and the valley around was the inner moat - well there was no water there, but it was a big hole.

Marvellous colours and sharpness, Ade.
Nice composition, too.
Best regards, Chris

Not laughing ade. I really appreciate you telling me. I learn so much in here and this is something I will try myself. I sometimes spend hours photographing say one waterfall until I have covered almost every possible number combination. I will certainly have to look into more filters. Thank you for taking the time to give me such an informative reply. Cheers - Ann :)

Just need to get Marky down there with a van full of stella - he'd fill it in a couple of days!!!

Was a bit unsure on the comp on this, did another crop to make it feel a little more balanced, but after tossing a coin, settled on the above.

see what I mean - tricky one.

You may laugh Ann, but the main reason was that it was pretty dark when I took it!

may not come across in the shot, but I could hardly see the bottom of the pit - and the autofocus was struggling.

Secondly, I use filters, always a polariser and usualy ND grads. The polariser forces you to quadruple the shutter speed - so 2 seconds normal turns into 8 seconds.

Thirdly, when doing landscapes, I always shoot at F16/ISO100 to get a nice crisp image throughout the shot. F16 is a tiny hole and not a lot of light can get in there - so you leave i on for ages.

Some of the other shot were at ISO 400 for 30 seconds, it got really dark then though!!!

Cheers

Ade

Just a little bit late Ade. If you had got there a few years earlier the Moat would have been in tact. Incidentally if you split your 10D you could have 2two 5Ds then you could give me one.Good imageand you have held the detail well.

Hmmm...another slow shutter speed shot. Wondering why you used slow shutter here ade? serious question cause I thought I only needed slow shutters for misty water shots. Does it let more colour in or some such other enhancement? This is beautiful. Great subject and lovely details. I enjoy the colour and DOF very much. Your work is outstanding. Cheers - Ann :)
