About Last September I was fortunately allowed to be part of the Tiger Cruise aboard the USS Boxer.

This a special cruise offered by the Navy to family members of the crew. It was designed for family members to experience what it is like to be a crew member aboard a Navy Ship. Nothing was paid for by the Navy. We to pay for our own transportation to the ship, supply our own personal amenities, even pay for our food aboard ship.

While the USS Boxer appears to be a air craft carrier it is not. It is a Amphibious Assault ship. It can launch up to 10 helicopters at a time as well as 2 LCAC hoovercarft. The crew for this tour was around 1200 Navy seamen. The ship can accommodate over 2000 in operations to launch Marines from the Helicopters and hoovercraft.

Over the next week or so I will be posting images made while on this cruise.

John, I would have tried to get better images but was limited to pretty much a point and shoot camera. I almost got in trouble with the base MP's as I was not supposed to take photos while in port. This was not the best photo I shot , but sets the stage for the comming images. I hope the next ones are a little better.

Can't wait for the next ons Larry, Lucky you, I would have liked to see a bit more detail in the ship though, photo shop fix or something.
