Oh my. What a lovely face. I'll spare you my version of it and just say I like the bright white hat and the reflections in the pearls. Looks just like it should on a cloudy day.

Thanks for the detailed comments Carlos, unfortunately I'm unlikely to ever see her again as this was just a grab shot outside a railway station - ah well, another lost opportunity !

Thanks for looking Vince,

I don't mind you making changes. I must admit this is pretty much a straight scan and I spent no time on it. Frankly I didn't expect so many comments, it was just a quick "grab" shot taken outside a railway station !

a great expression, you snapped the right instant and the soft understated grey tone work well even if in post production contrast could have been strengthen but just a tad since she?s so white and going over the threshold would be too harsh? (amazing looking woman, the veil, the dress? what a delight to photograph?! Hope you got more of her?). The portrait is so strong, the young woman has such ?regal? bearing - offers so many possibilities once you start playing around ? eliminating the background (she IS so phenomenal all the rest is noise), high keying the frame, a light sepia, and a wonderful turn of the century portrait is revealed.

Wayne, I really like this capture. I agree with it being a little flat although with some fiddling in PS this image really comes to life. I hope you don't mind but this is my attempt at giving it a bit of depth.

Cheers

David,

I see what you mean now. I checked the resized image against the original scan and in the original scan it just looks like grain. Possibly it is a result of the resizing followed by some sharpening affecting the deeper shadows more than the highlights & midtones.

This is a pretty face caught very naturally in this great capture. I'm sure ps can help lighten up her complexion...

Yeah I know what film grain is Wayne.
I hand processed for 20 years :)
I mean the dark rectangular patch in the elbow area of the mans arm :)

Thanks for looking David,

flat - it was an overcast day very soft light, the tones are about how I remember them on the day, of course I could have made it a bit harder for display.

noisy - not noise, it's film grain.

I agree great capture and expression.
But it is quite flat.
Is it something to do with the scan?
I noticed the shadows up in the right are incredibly noisy as well?

A real grey mouse. Like the looks in her face but think the photograph is to grey.
