Mi sono levato in piedi indietro dalla vostra cartella e vedo che siete così photographer di talento. I vostri paesaggi sono magnifici. I paesaggi sono stati uno dei miei tipi favoriti di immagini da bloccare per molti anni ed ho scoperto quanto difficile deve raggiungere i risultati grandi. Ciò è un'altra ragione per la quale apprezzo l'abilità come il vostro. Ciò è un favorito. La composizione è bella ed è molto dimensionale -- gamma grande della luce, di contrasto e di tonal. O forse le ho capite fin troppo bene .. o forse hai ragione tu, sono io che non ho capito niente. In quanto allo spirito critico ... in questi mesi ho letto soprattutto di delusione, lamentele e affini per non aver avuto premi, sottointendo spesso una certa malafede e ora che hai avuto il premio questa malafede si trasforma in buonafede e ottime scelte dello staff. Le tua foto meritava un award tempo fa come lo merita adesso e come lo meritano tante altre foto, che facciamo allora tutti a piagnucolare, a pestare i piedi e a minacciare di andarsene perchè ci venga riconosciuto un premio almeno sulla nostra foto migliore? Questo era il succo del discorso in quanto al resto, sì hai ragione tu sono io quella che non capisce il perchè sui siti di fotografia tutti, e in particolare i fotografi più quotati amatori o semi-professionisti, si trasformino in bambini all'asilo che litigano per le caramelle e le preferenze della maestra.

Bene, finalmente l'agognato awards ... scusami Patrizio ma mi sembra che qui si sia scaduti un pochino. Sono mesi che ti lamenti di essere ignorato dallo staff, ora ricevi un riconoscimento e metti tutto maiuscolo: ORA SONO SICURO CHE CI SONO DELLE PERSONE CHE GUARDANO LE FOTO CON ATTENZIONE. Come per dire che chi non ha ricevuto nessun premio, ora che si ha la certezza matematica che le foto vengono viste e premiate se meritvoli, può anche tornarsene a casa perchè le sue foto fanno schifo.
Non voglio far polemica, non mi interessa, ne voglio mancare di rispetto a te, ma qui mi sembra che si sia sforati un po' nel patetico ....ma contento tu contenti tutti, a me fa piacere se questo ti ha reso finalmente soddisfatto e finalmente fiducioso nelle persone che scelgono le foto da premiare.

Spero davveron che i miei commenti siano graditi e non un pò... come dire... rompiscatole...
Dico quello che penso, qui a UF, come nella vita.
Credo come qualcuno ha detto nei commenti di questa foto che UF sia fatto non tanto per i riconoscimenti (che pure danno la loro soddisfazione!) ma per parlare e discutere, per vedere le foto diversamente da come le vediamo quando le scattiamo.
I commenti standard come "bella, molto bella" non servono a molto. Magari gratificano, ma credo che se noi siamo qui a UF sia per imparare.
E se c'è da imparare vuol dire che le nostre foto non sono perfette, ma c'è da migliorare.
Un commento, per quanto negativo, serve a non commettere lo stesso errore la volta suvvessiva. Per questo trovo interessante perdere il mio tempo a postare e commentare le immagini...
Spero di trovarti d'accordo.

si sembra che abbiano sentito, una coincidenza curiosa, se poi è una coincidenza, ma francamente non ti so dire cdome vengono attribuiti questi riconoscimenti.
c'è anche un rovescio piacevole della medaglia, ti arrivono tanti di quei messaggi che si va in crisi di tempo per rispondere a tutti, comunque...piano piano.

Another of these outstanding photos, as you have many. Adams is the obvious comparison, as I've mentioned in the past, myself. One thing he wanted was that even the shadow would have detail, and not disappear into blackness. And you have that detail, here. It's just a remarkable photograph.

Hey, Patrizio. We spoke yesterday about this image, and there was a reference made to photographer Ansel Adams, unquestionably the greatest monochrome photographer that ever lived. In America, we even have a national Ansel Adams day to celebrate him! If you do not know this photograhic icon, I strongly recommend his books, in particular one from a series called "The Print" and another called "Yosemite and the Range of Light". You will find these books a tremendous help to your work. I have used Ansel's "Zone System" for over 20 years and still today I produce high-quality (48-bit) BW prints using his techniques and teach the subject to interested students. I have attached a sample here to illustrate what I mean. The dynamic range of your photograph is restricted to between Zone 4 and Zone 6.5. The full BW dynamic range should be between Zone 3 and Zone 8 for maximum effect, especially in such a scene that can accept a large range of light. I analyzed your image and extended the range to be 3-8. It is apparent in the midtones and highlights, and you can see that the effect is to 'lift' the image from the page and add dimension. It also increases the realism and makes for a more believable image. In-camera histograms can help you do this. In particular, look at the cloud detail in my adjustment - do you see the 3D effect? How about the midtones in the shadows - see the detail? It all gives a better sense of depth. In short, the relative tones must be in compliance with each other, and I have adjusted the image to do just that, based on accurate measurements. I hope this makes sense to you and helps with future images. The image has been heavily sharpened under PS which caused considerable quality loss.It is a wonderful scene but to my eye, it appeared too two-dimensional and somewhat 'flat'. Adjusting the tones to their correct values added impact. Many thanks for your kind comments about my images. Yes, they are very personal and I am glad you noticed that. Patrizio, never mind to be or not recognised by one or other website staff. be sure that your pictures are most excellent and always of the highest level, like this one - a very masterpiece, that would deserve to be among the best photographers' reference books. please do not leave usefilm, i know that many people here do love your pictures and have learned a lot with them, like myself! i perfectly understand your feelings, but the magnificent landscapes you share with us show undoubtly that you have an immense skill and - more important - a brave soul, being a fully accomplished and true artist. remember all the great ones - many of them never achieved the deserved fame in life, but the work they left behind now feed and uplift great multitudes of people. concentrate yourself in your own work, and leave the awards in God's wisdom to grant you them or not.

It looks like it's hagning on a wall. Everything about this image is beautiful. The depth of field, clarity, detail and composition are all spot on and the tones in the B&W are lovely. Caro patrizio,
non cadere nel tranello degli award, vivere in una communita' come UF od altre è bello per le persone che incontri per i consigli che ricevi e per le opportunita' che hai di far crescere la tua fotografia osservando chi ti sta intorno.
Circa la tua foto sono cosi' legato a quei posti che i miei affetti superano la visione fotografica, pero' e' anche la foto che mi ha permesso di conscerti quindi sono legato anche a questa visione oltre che a quelle dei miei ricordi.

Dell?immagine assolutamente niente" in senso positivo" in pratica questa tua foto è il massimo per un fotografo, costruire un'immagine così perfetta è il massimo, non mi stancherò mai di ripeterlo, nelle tue foto traspare l'amore che hai per la montagna e per la fotografia e questa è la tua opera migliore in assoluto. Per i riconoscimenti, cosa importa la BIPPIAMO noi, e secondo il mio modestissimo parere vale molto di più del BIP dato da una redazione che non guarda meraviglie come questa tua splendida foto.Ciao Patrì

Posting photographs to a web site like UF should be aimed to share your own work with other people. The driver should be the desire to improve and not the desire to win awards or to win something like in a sort of a competition. Sharing photographs you have the opportunity to learn and improve. You can learn looking at others people photographs or receiving and leaving comments. Doing this I learned (and still learning) a lot and I learned to revalue some of my own photographs as well.
Regarding your photo I think is a nice one that could be even better if only it was sharpened a little less. I am not so sure it is comparable to Ansel Adamns's work as somebody pointed out :-)

Straordinaria, una foto da urlo, veramente molto partecipata, chi ama la montagna non puo' che soffermarsi estasiato da questa impressionante visione. ;i piace molto. Ottima centesima immagine.
Bhe quanto ai riconoscimenti.... lasciamo perdere, si sono fatte molte discussioni e dibattiti, sinceramente a me non interessano particolarmente, certo qual'ora arrivino, penso, facciano piacere, anche io non ne ho mai ricevuti, certo ho tutto da impararre da un maestro come te, ma per me questo sito e' stato importante per, credo, migliorare fotograficamente, mi ha permesso di attivare relazioni, amicizie, conoscenze che il mio carattere, forse, non mi avrebbe consetito di stabilire.
Spero di rivedere nuovamente tue immagini al tuo ritorno. Buon lavoro.

Well, it sure is a nice landscape, Patrizio, and I have a portfolio full of them myself. Literally. As for 'awards' and 'recognition', well, the 'awards' here are not real - they are intended to boost morale and keep photographs coming. As there are no user votes here, I would not lose any sleep over it. The spirit is to share your images - not to expect 'rewards' for them. Besides, who is to say that your images are actually award-worthy? Yes, some are very good, but so are many, many thousands of other images here - and we cannot all win awards, can we? At the end of the day, it is all just a fun collection of happy-snappy photographs, intended for the enjoyment of others. If you're expecting 'recognition' or 'rewards' for being here you're probably in the wrong place anyway. From a technical standpoint, believe me, I could tear this image down in oh-so-many ways, but it serves no purpose. It's a nice image, well done. And perhaps you'll win an award one day..... but my advice? Take pictures because you enjoy it and want to share them, not purely for recognition. You know you're good - let others decide if they feel the same way.
